Itinerary
|
Tuesday
New York to Cairo, Egypt: Today is the day you
will Depart the USA for your exciting
adventure in the ancient land of Egypt. Your non-stop flight
to Egypt, on Egypt Air, departs JFK airport at
6:00 PM and arrives in Cairo, Egypt at 11:30 AM on April 2, 2008. |
Wednesday
Cairo, Egypt: Arrive
at the International Airport in Cairo, our local representative will
assist us through customs and the immigration formalities. We will then be transferred
to our hotel for a well deserved
rest. |
Thursday
Cairo/Sakkara and Old Cairo: This
morning your wake up call will be approximately 7:00 AM for a departure
from the hotel at 8:30 AM. This morning you will visit Ancient
Memphis, the first capital of a united Upper and Lower Egypt. Then
we are off to Sakkara, site of the Step Pyramid of Zoser. After Lunch,
visit Old Cairo, where early Judaism and Christianity flourished in Egypt. Visit sites like the Ben
Ezra Synagogue, and the Moallaka Church where the Virgin Mary, Joseph,
and the baby Jesus took refuge. |
Friday
Cairo-Museum and the Pyramids:
(Pyramid Day) This
morning your wake up call will be approximately 6:30 AM for a departure
from the hotel at 7:30 AM. This morning your guide will introduce you to
the master pieces of ancient Egypt in the Egyptian
Museum, including the treasures of Tutankamun. After Lunch we're off
to the Pyramids and Sphinx
of Giza, which have stood for the last 5000 years. An old Arab
Proverb says "Man fears Time, yet
Time fears the Pyramids" Optional excursion this evening to the Sound and Light show at the
Pyramids this evening. Cost will be $40.00 per person. (B, L)

Saturday
Cairo/Luxor:
This
morning your wake up call will be approximately 4:30 AM for an 6:30AM
flight to Luxor. Upon arrival we will visit the largest temple
complex in all of Egypt, Karnak
Temple. We will then continue to Luxor Temple. Our hotel tonight is the Nile Cruise Boat
"King of
Thebes". This afternoon will be free in Luxor. Maybe do a bit of
shopping at Radwan's or possibly a visit to the Luxor Museum. There will
be an optional excursion this evening of taking a horse drawn carriage
through old Luxor this evening. Approximately $20.00 per person

Sunday
Luxor/Valley of the Kings:
This
morning your wake up call will be approximately 5:30 AM for a departure
at 6:30 AM. Cross the Nile this morning to visit the world renowned Valley of the
Kings, the Valley
of the Queens, and the Temple of Queen
Hatshepsut, followed by a visit
to the Colossi of Memnon. Set
sail this evening for the locks at Exna. There will be
plenty of time for rest on the sun deck or in your junior suite.
All of the junior suites have French balconies so you can watch the
shoreline as you sail. (B, L, D).

Monday
Kom Ombo/Edfu: This
morning your wake up call will be approximately 6:30 AM for a departure
at 7:30 AM. You will then travel via horse drawn carriage to the Temple of
Horus. Then set sail for Kom Ombo, and relax on the boat as you cruise the Nile.
Early this evening you will be visiting the temple at Kom
Ombo. (B, L, D)

Tuesday
Aswan; Wake
up call wil be at 5:30AM. Today we will visit the Aswan Dams, the Temple
at Philae and the Unfinished Obelisk. This afternoon there will be a
felucca sail to view Elephantine Island and the Agha Khan Mausoleum.
There will be time for a visit to the Spice Market this evening. (B, L, D)

Wednesday Aswan/Abu Simbel: Wake
up call will be at 4:30AM for a 6:30 AM flight to Abu
Simbel. This morning's visit to the Temples at Abu Simbel is one of
the most magnificent sights you will see on this trip. Well worth the
early wake up call. After our visit to Abu Simbel we will fly back to
Cairo. There will be time to relax poolside at the Isis Island Hotel or for a visit to the Spice Market this afternoon. An Optional visit to a Nubian Village will be offered for approximately $20 per person.

Thursday Aswan/Cairo:
Wake up call will be at 5:30AM for a 7:00AM departure, to Cairo. The remainder of the day is ours for shopping, sightseeing or simply wandering through the city's fascinating streets and by-ways. You may wish to take advantage of an Optional tour to the Red Pyramid and Bent Pyramid upon arrival in Cairo. $45 per person includes Lunch.

Friday
Cairo/Alexandria/Cairo: – (Alexandria Optional)
Today you may plan as you wish. Golf is available for those that would enjoy that. Shopping in downtown Cairo can be arranged. Visit the Egyptian Museum again, for one last look. Or you might just wish to enjoy the hotel facilities and rest.
If you choose the Optional tour to Alexandria you will rise at 5:00AM to be on the road at 7:00AM, after a 3 hour ride to Alexandria across the desert road we will visit the
Catacomb of Kom El Shukafa, Alexandria National Museum, the
Library at Alexandria and more. Late afternoon we will drive back to Cairo. Cost
to Alexandria is $125.00 includes Lunch. (B)

Saturday Cairo/New York;
At
10:00AM our flight departs Cairo for JFK to arrive at 3:30PM Back to
Beacon by approximately 7:00PM (B, L)

The
fine print:
Price is as quoted above per person double occupancy. $420.00
for a Single Supplement.
(This is if there is only one person in the room) $25.00 per person charge for an Egyptian Visa.
If there are enough participants, we will arrange for bus
transportation round trip from Beacon to JFK. The cost will be approximately
$70.00 per person. Deposit of $100.00 per person to sign up.
All prices subject to change. Insurance is available
and highly recommended for all passengers at an additional cost.
Prices quoted do include fuel surcharges, but do not include airport fees or airline
taxes. Also
all pricing now includes air fuel surcharges per U.S. D.O.T Regulations.
Air taxes are additional. In the past fuel surcharges were paid with final
payment and were collected along with the taxes, now the fuel surcharge is
collected as part of the package price. Bottom line is the same. You
are not paying more now, you did not pay less before!
Notes: There
will be certain optional items offered, time permitting, in Egypt. Total
Cost if you take them all will be approx. $350 per person.
Gratuities Drivers/porters/general
folks/Cruise staff - We will pool our money and the guide will handle this for us.
$50 per person pooled gratuities.

Tour Director - Cairo - $40.00 per person.
Spending Money Cruise
boat expenses for beverages will be settled in cash. Beverages with all
included meals will be settled in cash. Soda is about $1.00, Beer about
$3.00.
You will need cash in the Street Markets. While at the hotel in Cairo you can
charge expenses to your room and pay with a credit card. During shopping opportunities at the Papyrus Institute, Carpet
School, Perfume Factory and Radwan Jewelry, VISA is the preferred Card.
Do not plan on using American Express.
Average cash expenditure is about $750.00 per person, inclusive of
gratuities and optional tours. |
