Joy Adamson and her her husband, Kenya game warden George Adamson, raised Elsa, a lion cub. When Elsa approached maturity, Joy determined she must re-educate Elsa to living in the wild so that the lioness can return to a free life. Shaba National Park is often referred to as the Born Free country. We have an afternoon game drive in Shaba.  Shaba National Reserve took it's name from the the massive cone of volcanic rock that dominates this region. The landscape is similar to nearby Samburu with riverine forests, acacia and doum palms. Dinner and overnight Sarova Shaba FB.

THURSDAY:   Lake Nakuru provides the visitor with one of Kenya’s best known images. Thousands of flamingo, joined into a massive flock, fringe the shores of this soda lake. A pulsing pink swathe of life that carpets the water, the flamingo are a breathtaking sight.
The lake has become world famous for these birds, who visit the lake to feed on algae that forms on the lake bed. They move back and forth, feeding and occasionally and spectacularly taking to flight, filling the sky over the lake with color. The lake is extremely variable in size changing from 5 up to 30 sq kilometers in area. Nakuru has more than just flamingos. This is a major National Park and an important sanctuary for Rhino. Both Black and White Rhino are found here, and are often seen resting under acacias by the Lake shore. The park abounds with game. There are huge herds of waterbuck, zebra, buffalo, the endangered Rothschild Giraffe and more.

Lepoard This is one of your best chances of seeing Leopard in Kenya, and there are several large prides of Lion. Exploring beyond the lake is always rewarding and there are forests, cliffs, waterfalls and more to be found here. Nearby Nakuru town is a busy and thriving local centre with a bustling market. The town is a hub for local transport and travel and Masai Mara. After breakfast the safari leaves Shaba and drives to Lake Nakuru in the Rift Valley.  Lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.  Dinner and overnight Lion Hill Lodge FB

FRIDAY:   Masai Mara After breakfast continue to the Masai Mara.  Lunch and afternoon game drive. South Western Kenya is the heartland of the Maasai.
Maasai The Maasai are a strongly independent people who still value tradition and ritual as an integral part of their everyday lives. They regard themselves not just as residents of this area but that they are as much a part of the life of the land as the land is part of their lives. Traditionally, the Maasai rarely hunt and living alongside wildlife in harmony is an important part of their beliefs. Lions and Wildebeest play as important a role in their cultural beliefs as their own herds of cattle. This unique co-existence of man and wildlife makes this Maasai land one of the world’s most unique wilderness regions. Dinner and overnight Mara Sarova Lodge FB.

Entry Requirements for Egypt and Kenya

Besides your passport, you will need a double VISA for entry to Egypt since you will be entering from both the USA and Kenya.

For Kenya, you also need a VISA and a Yellow Fever Shot. With the vaccination comes a little yellow booklet – carry this yellow booklet with you –  this is your proof of yellow fever vaccination which you need for return to the USA.
I  ALWAYS recommend that people see their own physician, or a travel doctor, for a final decision on shots that are merely recommended.

KENYA - *Passport, visa, and onward/return ticket required.  Visas should be obtained in advance.  Airport visas are available for those traveling from a country where there is no Kenyan Embassy/High Commission.  Travelers who opt to obtain an airport visa should expect delays upon arrival.  Evidence of yellow fever immunization may be requested. *  Tourist visas require 1 application form, 2 photos, onward/return ticket, and $50 fee (money order or cashier’s check only).  Multiple-entry visas require payment of a $100 fee (money order or cashier’s check only).  Expedited visa service is available for an additional $10.  Airport departure tax is $40.  For additional information, consult the Embassy of Kenya, 2249 R St., NW, Washington, DC 20008 (202/387-6101).  Internet: www.kenyaembassy.com

Immunization

The best choice of vaccines for your trip depends on many individual factors, including your precise travel plans. Vaccines commonly recommended for travelers to Africa include those against. Your own personal physician is your best guide for any of the vaccines listed below. Only Yellow Fever is mandatory for Kenya:

In the past fuel surcharges were paid with final payment and were collected along with the taxes, now the fuel surcharge is collected as part of the package price. Bottom line is the same. You are not paying more now, you did not pay less before!

Prices quoted do include fuel surcharges, but do not include airport fees or airline taxes.
